Òwe Yorùbá: Bí esin bá dáni, àá tún gùn ni. |
Òwe Yorùbá
Bí esin bá dáni, àá tún gùn ni.
Yoruba Proverb
When you fall from a horse, you climb it again.
Meaning:
Persistence is the key to success.
Usage:
This proverb is an encouraging and motivational proverb that encourage people to always try again.
Like every other race that has a way of motivating their people by motivational speaking, Yoruba also has several proverbs and adages they use in pushing their people to always take chances, try again and take risks.
Horse as known, can be stubborn and hard to ride at times, especially by newbies, which may result in their falling off the horse and probably get injured in the process, however, that is not enough reason not to attempt riding it again. This was how Yoruba people coined out the proverb, “when you fall off the horse, you climb again”.
Moral:
At every point in our life, we take chances, attempt new things and fail in the process, however, that you fail doesn’t imply you couldn’t succeed in it. All you have to do is try again, even after failing several times, you still have to try one more time, “Bí esin bá dáni, àá tún gùn ni.” Don’t give up until you have tried one more time.
What do you do yesterday and fail, how many times have you failed in that investment, how many exams have you written and fail, you’ve been rejected several times at job interviews, it’s not time to give up yet, TRY ONE MORE TIME!

At every point in time we feel hopeless and drown in our pains rather than speak out, or most time we look at people who smile and conclude they are happy deep inside, you need to read “The Unspoken Words”.
